Eggy bread


1 Large egg

1 tablespoon milk

A knob of butter, or 1 tablespoon sunflower oil

2 slices of bread

Salt and Pepper

Honey, Jam or Bacon to Serve


1. Crack the egg into a shallow dish, such as a soup plate or Quiche dish. Add the milk and beat together with salt and pepper to taste.

2. Melt the butter in a large frying pan over a medium heat. Quickly dip the bread slices into the egg mixture to coat both sides, then let any excess egg drip back into the dish.

3. Add the bread slices to the hot butter or oil and fry for 1 – 2 minutes on each side until set and golden brown. Serve with honey, jam or bacon.


Why not make herby eggy bread. Just simply add a pinch of dried mixed herbs to the egg mixture.
